On February 2 we are celebrating the opening of The Black & White Show from 2-5 pm. Black & White is many things - stark contrast, the unvarnished truth, the bones under the frills, objective yet subjective in a way unlike any other. Not all the show is black and white - by design, because color and black and white play against each other and play up each other's differences and strengths. Come and share it with us, explore our show and if you come on Sunday Feb. 2, enjoy refreshments and personal insights from our artists on their work. We also welcome new member Karl Koeller to the Spotlight for February. He is an experienced graphic artist and cartoonist and a graduate of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. He's filled our central gallery room with his work in sequential art, illustration and drawing. He will be at the gallery every Sunday in February to answer questions about his work and discuss comics, the history of cartooning and animation with visitors. In March, the Spotlight will move to Louisa Kroner and her dynamic paintings. Louisa has painted for a long time, working on the human figure and landscapes, sometimes in large scale, but this is her first show in our area since she moved here about a year ago. Please give her a warm Hudson Valley welcome. (Her exact opening date TBD.) February Paint & Sip will be on Friday, 2/7 at 6:30 pm. The subject is flamingos in silhouette against a colorful background, designed to remind you of tropical warmth when we need it most. Contact Liz at 914-456-6700 for reservations. Thanks to those of you who contributed to our fundraiser. Your gift will help support a graduating F.D. Roosevelt H.S. senior who is pursuing a higher education in the arts to be chosen in the spring after evaluating candidates. It is appreciated by all of us and certainly by its future recipient.
