Artists' Collective of Hyde Park and Hyde Park Free Library are proud to announce the Hudson Valley Then and Now Festival, their collaborative series of events celebrating the unique history and lifestyle of our beloved valley. The Hudson Valley Then and Now Festival will take place from July 13-16, 2017.  The Hyde Park Free Library is also celebrating its 90th anniversary with a summer of children's programs, concerts and other musical events, film series and special events to be announced. This project is made possible by a grant from Dutchess Tourism, administered by Arts Mid-Hudson.
 
Hudson Valley Then and Now events include:

1. EXHIBITION: HISTORIC PHOTOS
Saturday, July 1 – Monday,  July 31, 2017
Location: Hyde Park Free Library Annex, 2 Main St, Hyde Park, NY 12538
Cost: Free
This interesting exhibition, kindly loaned with the assistance of Jeffrey Urbin from the Franklin D. Roosevelt Estate and Presidential Library, will be on view in the Library Annex next to the Library on Main Street for the month of July. The Annex will be open during regular Library hours. 2. CONCERT: SNAPSHOTS, AN EVENING OF HUDSON VALLEY SONGWRITERS
Thursday, July 13, 2017, 7:30-9:30 PM
Location: Artists' Collective of Hyde Park, 4338 Albany Post Road, Hyde Park, NY
Cost: Tickets $10
A memorable evening of brilliant and accomplished Hudson Valley musicians. Participating artists will be Denise Jordan Finley, Jim Pospisil, Pat Lamanna, and Eric Garrison. Each writer will do a 25 minute set to include at least one original song relating to the Hudson Valley. 3. PAINT & SIP: THE VANDERBILT VIEW OF THE HUDSON
Date: Friday, July 14, 2017, 6:30-9:00 PM
Location: Artists' Collective of Hyde Park, 4338 Albany Post Road, Hyde Park, NY
Cost: Fee $40
Join Liz and Ilga this month as we create a beautiful painting of the Vanderbilt Overlook at Hyde Park on the Hudson. *Due to intense interest, a second session has been added on Friday, July 21 at 6:30 PM. 4. ART & MUSIC FEST AT ACHP

Cost: Free

Live music acts, art and fun at ACHP all afternoon!  Hosted by artist, author and DJ Myael Simpkins. The performer and vendor list is still growing as of this writing. It currently it includes Rachael Hendricks, Jordan Pract, Bridget Kelly, Nick Jackson, Angela Crisci, and Michelle Sangali. 5. CONCERT: KEVIN & CAROL BECKER WITH RICH KEYES
Saturday, 7/15 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Location: Hyde Park Free Library Annex, 2 Main St, Hyde Park, NY 12538
Cost: Free
Kevin, Carol, and Rich have been performing together regularly for over twenty years. Their unique folk stylings meld Kevin's masterful guitar work with Carol's beautiful, soaring voice and Rich's solid bass rhythms and banjo. Kevin has made over 1,200 performances of music throughout the Northeast, composed over 250 songs as well as works for piano, string quartet, wind ensemble and choirs. Kevin has shared the stage with such noteworthy artists as  Pete Seeger, Jay Unger, Utah Phillips, Harry Chapin, Sandy and Caroline Paton, Linda Russell, The Bellamy Brothers, and The New Riders of the Purple Sage. 6. ART RECEPTION: HUDSON VALLEY THEN AND NOW EXHIBITION

Cost: Free
ACHP is thrilled to welcome everyone to a Reception for its group show by members of the collective, celebrating the Hudson Valley's history and lifestyle in a variety of 2D and 3D mediums. (The exhibition will be on display from July 13 through August 13, 2017.) The collective also welcomes a fusion dance performance by dynamic dancer and choreographer Anna Mayta at the reception. In addition, the exhibition will feature a show by Elizabeth Phillips, winner of this year's ACHP annual Visual Art Student Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded to a graduating Franklin D. Roosevelt High School student displaying excellence in visual arts. Distinguished area artists participating in this show include:

7. HUDSON VALLEY COMMUNITY ART CONTEST

Everyone is encouraged get in the artistic spirit of our valley and create a sculpture or other artwork of a Hudson Valley historical site or landmark out of ANYTHING!  Clay, paint, wood, metal, food, recycled items, Styrofoam - the possibilities are endless.
