Break Out in Color With our first new gallery show since the virus, our members celebrate hope in vibrant colors and forms in all their mediums. Face coverings required inside the gallery. Maximum 15 people in the gallery at one time. Open 12-6 pm; reception 2-5 pm. Guests may make an appointment if they prefer a more private viewing of the exhibition by calling 845-229-9029. This show will be available during regular gallery hours through September 26 and will be taken down 9/27 to prepare for the October/November show, "Abundance". Our open hours are now Friday, 3-6 pm; Saturday and Sunday, 12-6 pm. Outdoor Art Show: Art is Alive On this first day of the 13th annual Art Studio Views Northern Dutchess Open Studios tour, 20 area artists, some of them our members, are showing their art outside at our gallery. You can drive through and see the art or park and walk through the artists' displays. There are paintings, prints, jewelry, books, original fabric designs, photography, sculpture and sculpture demonstrations. Not to mention mini-painting classes, an adapted version of our award-winning Paint & Sip by Ilga and Liz. The outdoor show "Art is Alive" begins at 11 am and ends at 4 on Saturday, 9/5/20. Art Studio Views is proceeding - in the real, non-virtual world! 27 artists from Hyde Park, Rhinebeck and north to Germantown and Tivoli are participating. Art Studio Views is a free, self-guided event designed to promote the artwork and talents of local artists in Northern Dutchess and Southern Columbia Counties. During Labor Day Weekend, artists open their studios to the public, share their creative environments and help visitors understand the inspiration that drives their passions. All ASV Studios are complying with Covid19 protocols – everyone MUST wear masks, gloves, limited people in a studio, social distancing…). Many studio experiences will be outdoor indoors under tents, and some indoors. For more info, grab a guide at our gallery, or visit artstudioviews.com for information on the artists, images of their art and video interviews. On February 2 we are celebrating the opening of The Black & White Show from 2-5 pm. Black & White is many things - stark contrast, the unvarnished truth, the bones under the frills, objective yet subjective in a way unlike any other. Not all the show is black and white - by design, because color and black and white play against each other and play up each other's differences and strengths. Come and share it with us, explore our show and if you come on Sunday Feb. 2, enjoy refreshments and personal insights from our artists on their work. We also welcome new member Karl Koeller to the Spotlight for February. He is an experienced graphic artist and cartoonist and a graduate of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. He's filled our central gallery room with his work in sequential art, illustration and drawing. He will be at the gallery every Sunday in February to answer questions about his work and discuss comics, the history of cartooning and animation with visitors. In March, the Spotlight will move to Louisa Kroner and her dynamic paintings. Louisa has painted for a long time, working on the human figure and landscapes, sometimes in large scale, but this is her first show in our area since she moved here about a year ago. Please give her a warm Hudson Valley welcome. (Her exact opening date TBD.) February Paint & Sip will be on Friday, 2/7 at 6:30 pm. The subject is flamingos in silhouette against a colorful background, designed to remind you of tropical warmth when we need it most. Contact Liz at 914-456-6700 for reservations. Thanks to those of you who contributed to our fundraiser. Your gift will help support a graduating F.D. Roosevelt H.S. senior who is pursuing a higher education in the arts to be chosen in the spring after evaluating candidates. It is appreciated by all of us and certainly by its future recipient. This year you have voted our Paint & Sip the Best of the Hudson Valley and we can't be more proud and grateful for your appreciation! We are also very grateful for our two uniquely talented and experienced art instructors, Elizabeth St. Leger and Ilga Ziemins-Kurens. Both NYS certified art teachers with many years of professional experience, these ladies always bring joy and inspiration to all who attend.
Our Paint & Sip happens once a month and each one features an original work by Elizabeth or Ilga. They will lead you through creating your own version step by step - no experience is needed. The cost of $40 includes all materials, art instruction and a glass of wine. To reserve a space in our next Paint & Sip, or for more information, please call or text 914-456-6700.
Hyde Park, NY - August 31, 2018 - Artists' Collective of Hyde Park (ACHP) will host a fundraising event, including a fine art raffle and silent auction, at Coppola's Bistro in Hyde Park on September 16, 2018 from 4:00 to 6:30 pm. Coppola's will provide hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar. Advance tickets are required and may be obtained by calling or texting 914-456-6700.
Fifty-dollar ticket holders will participate in a raffle; as their number is called, they'll be able to choose a piece of art from the fine work donated by Hudson Valley member and non-member artists in support of the Artists' Collective. Donated art is valued at $250 or more. These ticket holders will be able to purchase a second ticket for a guest for $15. Guest ticket holders may bid on silent auction items but do not receive art with their ticket. “The donating artists are saints. They work very hard, driven by their love of their art, sometimes without knowing what will sell – and they’re still generous enough to support our organization and its goals,” said Elizabeth St. Leger, Vice President of the group. Donating artists range from long-established creators to promising young talent and represent a variety of mediums and styles. They include:
ACHP President Marilyn Grieco emphasized that “Our supporting community members and organizations are our heroes, people who make it possible for us to do what we do. Without them we could not have developed our haven for arts in Hyde Park.”

Since then this group has grown from eight artists to twenty-five plus, welcoming new and seasoned visual artists and musicians alike to their arts family. ACHP brings art events, educational workshops, participatory music events and concerts to our neighbors and visitors in the Hudson Valley. The Collective awards an annual scholarship to a graduating Franklin D Roosevelt H.S. senior continuing in the arts. ACHP’s gallery on Route 9 in Hyde Park is a hub for Art Studio Views on Labor Day weekend each year.
