Aqua media artist, Diane-Ellen McCarron, recently donated eleven of her acrylic paintings to the Exodus Transitional Community in Poughkeepsie. Exodus' mission is to provide supportive services to formerly incarcerated men and women in order to help them reintegrate into their communities, thereby achieving social and economic well-being and breaking the cycle of recidivism. Barbara Todd's solo Photography show, "Hudson Valley Soul", will be on display at the Hudson Valley News Network (HVNN) offices, located at the Dutchess County Airport, through April 2016. These images convey the beauty and unique character of the Hudson Valley in all seasons, with a focus on winter. This show is sponsored by Arts Mid-Hudson. A native of the Mid-Hudson Valley, Barbara specializes in photography and digital art. Her work emphasizes unusual light and mood and includes landscapes, abstracts and a variety of eclectic subjects in color and black and white. She is drawn to reflections for their ability to draw the viewer into additional dimensionality within the image. Her work can also be seen at Artists' Collective of Hyde Park, Coppola's Restaurant in Hyde Park and the Roosevelt Inn in Hyde Park. Currently she has work at the Bird Show at the Mid-Hudson Heritage Center as well.
Karl Volk participated in the Poughkeepsie Open Studios event on 6/20/15. He was interviewed by an HVNN reporter at his pop-up installation at 330 Main Street, Poughkeepsie. Karl wants to establish a repository and museum for art left by local artists which remains after their passing. He is actively seeking support and a physical location for this purpose. For more information, please contact Karl at [email protected]. |
