Artists' Collective of Hyde Park gives members the opportunity to have a small solo show during our member shows. Each two-month long show features two "Spotlight Artists." The Spotlight Artists choose to either share the central gallery room for two months or each have the whole room for one month. This benefits our artists by allowing them to plan and curate their own show using whatever subject, style or theme they choose and hanging it themselves. It also provides guests visiting the gallery with a more immersive and intimate experience of the art of an individual artist. If the Spotlight Artist chooses, they can have an Artist Talk during their show.
The artist in the spotlight during the quarantine period has been Louisa Kroner. Louisa is a dynamic painter who imbues her studies of natural subjects and landscapes with a sweeping sense of motion, almost like waves on the sea. She chose to include black & white images complementing the current member show, which has a focus on monochromatic, muted tone and high contrast images.
